How to wear dark eye shadow and dark lipstick

I love dark eyeshadow and dark lipstick  because they look mysterious and alluring (at least to me). I've always loved fall because dark colors look so great with both make-up and clothes.  In general I'm not a big fan of the color olive green, but it looks great as eye shadow. I did two looks so that you can choose which you like better - one with just the olive shadow, and another with brown in the crease for some extra depth.

After the primer dried, I brushed on the olive eyeshadow using a Angled Eye Color brush from Laura Mercier.

If you're a woman of a certain age, it can be helpful to brush your shadow on from both the inner lid out, and from the outer corner in.  This helps to avoid a lack of color in the creases if you have loose skin on your eye lids.  I find it especially helpful when I'm putting shadow on my right eye.

After the olive shadow I used a Rimmel London eye pencil to line my eyes with a dark green.

I put my usual off white matte eye shadow under the arch of my brows

I lined the inside of my lower lid with waterproof black eye pencil. Since I wear contact lens I'm careful to only use waterproof pencil so that it doesn't seep into my eyes and onto my contacts.

The finished eye with just olive eye shadow.  And yes, I know my eye brows needed waxed/plucked.

 Note that dark lip color can make your lips look smaller, so if you don't like that effect, either choose a light or medium shade of lipstick, or try adding lip gloss in the center of your lips.
