New MAC collections for spring

If you're a MAC lover, you have a lot to look forward to this spring.  MAC has a lot of new collections coming out.  For March there are new Mineralized lipsticks and glosses.  Those are available online now, and will be in stores on March 7th.  I have bought some of this lipstick formula before  and I  liked them.  They're very creamy and moisturizing. They are a higher price than most MAC lipsticks, at $22, but if you like them it's worth it.  This collection will also have Mineralize Lip Glass glosses for the first time.  I  will get mine this week so I'll do a review soon.

Also in March there will be some Studio Sculpting products.

Then at the beginning of April the Playland collection comes out. It has bright pinks, corals, and even a yellow/gold, with lip glasses to match.  They are in MAC's Amplified Creme formula, which is probably my favorite.  It's very creamy, goes on easily, and is opaque.  So these bright colors in this t formula are going to be fantastic!  The picture below shows some of them.

Also at the beginning of April is a collaboration between MAC and Proenza Schouler.  The item that I'm most excited about in this one are ombré blushes.  I've seen some pictures of them and they are beautiful! I'm not that into blush, but I will get at least one of these.  Also in early April there will be some previously limited edition blushes being made permanent in the Tres Cheek collection.

Another early April collection that I'm excited about is PatentPolish lip pencils.  I've already posted how much I loved NARs and Urban Decay's lip crayons.  The downside to them is that you have to sharpen them pretty often.  What MAC is putting out are similar to crayons, but they twist up and don't need sharpening.  There are some great colors coming out in these, and they're getting rave reviews from MAC artists.  They will be a definite try/buy on my list.

Once May rolls around it's time for the Malificent collection (for the Disney movie starring Angelina Jolie).  Also the summer collection comes out in May as well.  So if you're a MAC fan, get ready for lots of goodies this spring!

MAC's Viva Glam Rihanna lipstick and gloss

If you're searching for a nice, easy-to-wear red lipstick, you might want to check out MAC's newest Viva Glam lipstick.  It's a lovely red with a tiny bit of sparkle.  I think it's the kind of red that will look good on a lot of people, and even the tube is beautiful.  The gloss is super beautiful, too. An extra plus is that proceeds from all Viva Glam products go to fund AIDS research.  So you can look good AND do good.
Here's a few shots of the packaging and the products.  First, the finished lips.

I applied Redd lip liner as a base to get a better outline.  Plus since I have that "lovely" problem of lipstick feathering, this helps to stop that.
Next I put the Viva Glam lipstick over the liner

Last I added a little bit of gloss
This dark red bullet is just beautiful.  It's almost too pretty to use.

The gloss is also in beautiful packaging, and the gloss itself really shimmers in the sunlight

MAC's Fantasy of Florals

Sick of winter yet?  If you live anywhere other than the West Coast, I'm betting that you are.  Unless you can afford a vacation, there isn't much you can do about your surroundings. But you can indulge yourself in some spring-like make up.  MAC just released it's first spring-colored collection to stores.  Here's a few photos of some of the items.
First the lipsticks.  They're either nudes or pastels, and they're the lustre finish, which is sheer but very moisturizing.  I passed on the nudes, since I have a lot of those already.  I got an orange-ish red one named Dreaming Dahlia, and a purple-pink named Snapdragon.  And sometime this week I should get Heavenly Hybrid, a medium purple.

Dreaming Dahlia is on my top lip, and Snapdragon is on the bottom

They also have some gorgeous gel eye liners, in a cute mint green and a pink-purple.

They also offered two Mineralize Skin Finish compacts, which is one of my favorite MAC products.  It's a mineral powder with a little sparkle in it.  You can use it as blush, or as a highlighter, or both.  The first one I bought is a pale beige with veins of purple.  On my skin it leaves a very nice, subtle sheen.  I like it because it's not too sparkly.  Perfect for days when I just want a little highlight.

The other one is named Stereo Rose.  It's much more pigmented, a deep coral rose color with veins of gold.  This one will be great as blush, or a highlight later in summer when I have more color.

There are also some lipglosses, nail polishes, and blushes, but I didn't buy those (not yet, at least).  Even though I'm still in the "dark lipstick for winter" mode, I'm happy to have some light pastels to remind me that eventually, the snow will end.
Fanstasy of Flowers is available at Nordstrom, Macy's, MAC stores, and limited items are at Maccosmetics.com.

Free People

My latest obsession in clothing is the Free People label.  If you like bohemian style clothes, aka "boho", you will probably love their clothes, too.  They have a wide variety of clothes, too.  Some are very casual - loose maxi dresses, oversized t-shirts, jeans shorts.  Others are so beautiful and feminine that they can worn as wedding dresses.  They also have shoes, boots, lingerie, jackets, and jewelry.  Their clothing is generally not cheap, but if you browse their sale items or get their sales on Hautelook or Rue La La, you can get a decent price.  Of course, if you make more money than me, you might find the regular prices perfectly reasonable.  The clothing is certainly worth the prices.  It usually has lace and other details inserted that makes it unique.
It's also quite enjoyable to peruse their web site and look at the photos that customers upload of themselves wearing the clothes.  There are also "collections" that customers put together that are like pin boards of Free People clothes.
Here are some photos of some of the Free People clothes that I've managed to get, along with a few others that are my favorites from their site.

The shirt below is just stunning.  Black chiffon embroidered and beaded.  It will look great with jeans as well as a skirt and heels.

The "Stella" dress below is also stunning, but unfortunately too small for me.  I hated to return it, though, since I had gotten it on sale and it was so pretty.

The maxi dress  below is part of their Beach Collection.  Casual and lightweight, they're great for summer but can also be worn with leggings and a sweater or jacket and worn in spring or fall, too.

There is a lot of netted and see through lace and chiffon in their clothing.  Perfect for layering.

At first I didn't think this dress would look good on me, since I'm not a skinny model.  But once I added a few things, even something as simple as a belt, it started looking much better.  These dresses are meant for layering and accessorizing. And they're sooo comfortable! So soft and lightweight.

Do you own any items from Free People?  Do you like the bohemian style of dressing or are you a more classic-style woman?
